The Vineyard
GranMonte Vineyard and Winery is uniquely located in Asoke Valley, Khao Yai, Thailand, and conveniently lies adjacent to Khao Yai National Park, approximately 160 km from Bangkok. The serene atmosphere and natural surroundings of the valley provide the perfect setting for GranMonte’s main estate. The grand mountain ranges of Khao Yai, which translates to “big mountain”, inspired the name "GranMonte".
At 350 metres above sea level in a valley with gentle slopes, GranMonte’s main estate has the ideal mesoclimate for growing high-quality grapes for winemaking in a tropical region. Current major varieties grown are Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Durif, Grenache, Chenin Blanc, Verdelho, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Alternative varieties include Merlot, Malbec, Barbera, Marsanne and Roussanne. Here, we use only the finest grapes grown and hand-harvested by us to make GranMonte wines, all of which are registered “Khao Yai Wine” Geographical Indication.
We at GranMonte pride ourselves on our sustainable practices essential to preserving the environment and ensuring the health and safety of our workers. Tropical viticultural techniques such as our Integrated Pest Management program are developed to suit the soil and climatic conditions particular to Thailand. We manage our vineyards with a Smart Vineyard precision farming system that incorporates a microclimate monitoring system to achieve the best possible quality and highest yield in this unconventional viticultural setting.
GranMonte’s main estate has a wine grape planting area of 100 rai (40 acres). An additional 200 rai (80 acres) of GranMonte’s planting areas are throughout Khao Yai region.
