GranMonte successfully registered “Khao Yai Wine” as a Geographical Indication in 2018 with the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand. Wines of “Khao Yai Wine” Geographical Indication are made according to the GI's established and globally-accepted winemaking standards. The grapes must be vitis vinifera grown in our Khao Yai region only, and no grapes of other origins, imported must/wine, or other fruit juice can be added.
The boundaries of Khao Yai Wine Geographical Indication begin in the north of Khao Yai National Park in Pak Chong and Wang Nam Khiao districts, Nakhon Ratchasima province, and end at Khao Phu Luang protected forest. Elevation is more than 300 meters from sea level. The distinct geography, geology, climate and ecology of Khao Yai region combine to give Khao Yai Wines their unique identity and characteristics.
This Geographical Indication aims to raise the standard and expectations for vitis vinifera wines with legitimate claims of origin in Thailand, for the benefit of our consumers and a bright future for wines of Thailand.
