GranMonte is a story of vision driven by Visooth Lohitnavy’s passion for wine. In 1999, a humble plot of land in the Northeast of Thailand, once a cornfield and cashew orchard, was about to realize its potential. It was here, nestled in the foothills of Khao Yai National Park, that Visooth settled with his wife Sakuna and two young daughters Nikki and Mimi.
The grapes were first planted in 1999, and GranMonte’s very own winery completed its construction in 2008 and began operation in 2009.
Little by little, Visooth studied vines and soil types, choosing the right varieties of vitis vinifera to discover those which would grow and yield fruit for the next generations. To this day, Visooth and his family eagerly meet the challenge to make 100% Thai wines purely from wine grapes grown on their Khao Yai land.
GranMonte, still family-owned and operated to this day, is now a leading producer of New Latitude wines and is at the forefront of the development of tropical viticulture and tropical winemaking.
