Before

1999

GranMonte Vineyards is the story of a vision driven by Visooth Lohitnavy's passion for wine.

1999

The First Roots

GranMonte Vineyard and Winery planted its first roots on a 100-rai (40-acre) plot of land in Khao Yai, Thailand, transforming a former cashew orchard into a vineyard.

Little by Little

Visooth together with his wife Sakuna and two daughters Nikki and Mimi began developing the area, growing grapes and creating Thai wine by learning together.

2003

GranMonte Grand Opening

GranMonte introduced its first wines from 2001 vintage, marking the beginning of its winemaking journey.

2005

The Expansion

The vineyard expanded its planting areas throughout the Khao Yai region, increasing its grape production capacity.

2006

First Winery Tour in Thailand

GranMonte began its vineyard and winery tour - the very first in Thailand!

2008

The Graduate

Nikki Lohitnavy graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Oenology with Honours in Viticulture.

The First and Only Fully-Qualified
Winemaker of Thailand

Nikki returned home to the non-traditional grape-growing region of the 'tropics', the newest and most exciting wine region of the world.
New winemaking innovations and techniques are adapted by Nikki on her vineyard and wines to further accelerate GranMonte and Thai wines to the highest international quality.

2009

GranMonte's Asoke Valley Winery

Asoke Valley Winery, GranMonte's state-of-the-art winery began its operation, working hand-in-hand with the vineyard. The winery would then be expanded in 2022 for a greater production capacity.

2010

Viognier

GranMonte introduced its first vintage of the Viognier wine grape variety and participated in the 'En Primeur' event in Bordeaux.

VinCotto Restaurant

VinCotto, GranMonte's family restaurant, opened its doors, offering exquisite European and Central Thai cuisine.

2011

Verdelho

GranMonte introduced its first vintage of the Verdelho wine grape variety.

2012

Thai Wine to World Wine

GranMonte launched its wine export program, expanding its reach beyond the local market and introducing Thai wines to international consumers.

2014

Durif

GranMonte introduced its first vintage of the Durif wine grape variety.

GranMonte Wine Cottage

GranMonte Wine Cottage, initially named The Guest House, was established to provide bed-and-breakfast-style rooms for friends, business partners, and visitors alike. The cozy seven rooms offer the most beautiful view of the vineyard, surrounded by mountains on all sides.

2015

Best National Producer of Thailand

GranMonte received the "Best National Producer - Thailand" award at the AWC Vienna, Europe's biggest international wine competition, for the first time in 2015. This marked the beginning of multiple wins in subsequent years of 2016, 2017, 2019 and most recently 2023.

2016

Top Promising Young Leader

Nikki Lohitnavy was listed on Forbes' Inaugural 30 Under 30 Asia, recognizing her as one of the top promising young leaders in the manufacturing and energy sector.

2017

Best Wine From Southeast Asia

GranMonte received the accolade of "Best Wine From Southeast Asia" from Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition (HKIWSC) in 2017 for its 2017 GranMonte Verdelho. GranMonte would receive the award again in 2022 for 2019 GranMonte Asoke Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah, and in 2023 for 2021 GranMonte Durif.

2018

Khao Yai Wine Geographical Indication

GranMonte successfully registered "Khao Yai Wine" as a Geographical Indication, establishing and protecting the wine's origins and quality standards.

2020

The New Grape Varieties

GranMonte continued to innovate, introducing new grape varieties like Merlot, Barbera, Marsanne, and Roussanne, further diversifying its wine portfolio.

2021

Continuation of Thailand Tourism Awards

GranMonte was honored with the Thailand Tourism Award for the fifth time, acknowledging its contributions to the country's tourism industry.

2022

GranMonte at APEC 2022 Thailand

GranMonte wines were chosen as the representative of Thai wines for APEC 2022 Thailand. More than 20 of GranMonte's labels, totaling over 3,000 bottles, were served at APEC 2022 Thailand's celebratory events for world leaders.

Dark Sky Vineyard

GranMonte received "Dark Sky" certification by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), highlighting the vineyard's role in reducing light pollution in the area and its suitability for astronomical observation and star-gazing activities.

2023

All Significant Awards and More to Come

GranMonte received the

"Best National Producer - Thailand" award at the AWC Vienna for the fifth time, solidifying its reputation in the industry.

Best Wine from Southeast Asia and Gold medals from HKIWSC for 2021 GranMonte Durif.

Gold Medals from AWC Vienna for NV GranMonte Sparkling Rose Brut.
